Celebrating 29 Years Wise!

Ryan has currently been on trauma surgery and also on nights.  He works six days and then has one day off, which happened to be Saturday.  We got lucky with his birthday falling on a Saturday this year so we could have a day full of exploring for his birthday.

Ryan got home a few hours later then planned in the morning from his rotation do to a trauma, so Morgan and I let him sleep for about 4 hours (I studied for my boards) then the shenanigans began!  We started off breakfast/lunch the right way with some "Double D" aka Dunkin Donuts.  It's pretty convenient when they are on every corner and gas station.  Ryan opened up some presents and then we had some cake.  I know that I am not the "Cake Boss" but I sure do have fun trying to be.  This year I thought we would go for the doctor scrub-top cake.

We headed into Boston to do some exploring at the famous Quincy Market.  This place is amazing!  Its a huge food court with probably about 20 different food ethnicities to choose from.  There are people performing on every corner or any free space available, stores, and my absolute favorite, a HUGE farmers market!  It's right next to the Boston Harbor and all of the roads are old cobblestone.  We will definitely be making this a common stop.

After a few hours at Quincy Market we headed to Fenway Park for our first Red Sox game against the Kansas City Royals.

We were in center field and had awesome seats.  Fenway is such an amazing stadium, pretty sure there is not a bad seat in the house.  Can't beat a 70 degree summer night, hotdogs, nachos, diet coke, peanuts, and cracker jacks

Happy 29th Birthday Ryan!  Sure do appreciate all the hard work he does for our little family!

Boston: American 4th of July

Ryan couldn't join us this year for the 4th of July due to work, so Morgan and I headed into Boston for one of the best shows in the nation.  Unfortunately there was some crazy weather headed our way (weather? what is that?) Hurricane Arthur, so the Boston fireworks were changed to happen on the 3rd since the hurricane would happen on the 4th.

The Boston Harbor

In Boston, the fireworks are set in the Harbor.  Friends from the ward go every year, where they save seats directly across the barge that sets the fireworks off.  We headed into Boston and got there at 5.  Its pretty much like a fair with food booths and music that go on till dark.  We were directly across the street from the famous MIT, so we walked around the campus for a little bit.

This year the Beach Boys came to play before the firework show so everyone was jamming out.  The fire works were suppose to go off at 10:30 pm, but due to Hurricane Arthur, the meteorologist made the show start earlier at 10 pm.  Unfortunately the show only was able to go for 15 minutes before they evacuated the harbor due to weather.

This show was some of the best fireworks I've seen.  After the evacuation we sped walk to the parking garage and right as we got to the car the hurricane hit and it poured rain, wind and lightning.  It was quite a deal to see.

It was a great 4th of July.  So fun to spend it where so much American history occurred.  Here's to next year's 4th of July and hopefully Ryan can make it.

First Day Is Done

On July 1st, at 8 pm, this handsome fellow finished his first official day of Residency, only lasted 14 hours and still smiling!  Bring on the long days!

Maine

Ryan's brother Morgan came to Massachusetts to stay with us for 5 weeks to get out of Idaho for the summer.  I don't think he realized he was going to trade nice, dry summers in Idaho for very humid, summers in Massachusetts.  We were super excited for him to stay so the weekend before Ryan officially started residency on July 1st, we hit the road and headed to southern Maine to see some lighthouses and beaches.

Maine is such a beautiful state!  I think we will be taking many trips up to Maine for some weekend getaways.  That is one thing that I like about the east coast, we drove through 3 states in under 2 hours.  We left Friday afternoon and made it to Ogunquit, ME.  We played on their nice beaches, went crabbing, tried to find oysters, ate saltwater taffy, fudge and a delicious dinner.

This was the first time going to the Atlantic Ocean.  The water was so clear and cold.

There was a nice trolley system at our hotel that would come and pick you up and take you to the beach for 2 dollars.

The next day, we went to York, Maine to go see the Nubble Lighthouse.  This lighthouse actually has a family living in the house.

Slipping on rocks and looking for creatures in the tide pools

Maine is known for their lobster, so we were on the hunt for the best price lobster and I think we found it, $12 for your very own lobster!

There are tons of fun candy stores in the towns.  We had to refill our saltwater taffy for the trip home, especially since there were 62 flavors!

Maine was a fun weekend getaway.  We will be seeing a lot more of it in the near future.

Our Next Adventure: Massachusetts

The time finally came, where we had to say goodbye to family and friends and make our way across the country to our new home: Worcester, MA.  We divided the trip into 4 days, 3 long days and then one short day where we also move in.

My Carpool Buddy

We started bright and early Monday morning from Pocatello going through Wyoming and stopping in Gothenburg, Nebraska for the night.  We got so lucky to be welcomed with the "Sod House Museum" directly across the street from our hotel.

Abbi found a very large toad at the entrance of our hotel, she may have bitten it a few times.

The next day we made our way through Iowa, Illinois, and into Indiana.  The third day we trekked through Ohio, Pennsylvania and stayed in New York.  Pretty sure I want to have a home or move to upstate New York.  It is probably one of the prettiest states I have been through.

The last day, Thursday, we drove through New York and made it to Worcester, Massachusetts where we then got to unload our POD.  Nothing like getting rid of the edema that occurred from 4 days of driving.

Ryan started orientation the next day while I unpacked our many boxes.  The east coast is very different then the west.  I think that it will grow on us, but it is definitely going to take sometime.

A Trip To Idaho

Ryan and I headed home to Idaho for 2 weeks after graduation and moving out of Arizona before we headed out to Massachusetts.  We were very excited and ready for Idaho.  We had many friends to see and places to go.
First off, Abbi had many play dates with Max

Ryan and I moved pipe with my dad, but Ryan didn't haves work clothes, so he borrowed some of my dad's....I think he was a little to proud to be dressed like my dad, he wore it well.

One weekend, we headed up to Island Park with the Finn Clan.  We played a lot in the river, walked around Yellowstone, The Playmill, fudge, salt water taffy, saw moose, and did everything else.

Needless to say, someone played really hard up at the cabin

I left early from the cabin to go and support my sister Kodi in her first NPC Bikini competition.  I could't be more proud of her and I was so excited I was home to go.

During the week we went camping with the Hunt's and Morgan up Scout Mountain for a quick night trip.

In the morning we went on a little hike up the mountain

Tanner and Abbi were buddies on the trail

Simon says, "Find a 4-leaf clover"

Just resting in the creek and getting extremely muddy

"Whatcha doin' dad?"

During the week the IHSRA state finals rodeo was going on so we went and watched my cousin.

For Father's day dinner my dad wanted Wingers, no complaining from me!

Ryan went carp hunting with a bow and arrow below the dam with his good buddies one afternoon

I'm pretty sure Abbi enjoyed my old room.  If we couldn't find her she would be sleeping on my bed

It was such a nice trip home.  The 2 week went by fast but we got to see a lot of people, missed some, but overall a great last trip home.
