Maine

Ryan's brother Morgan came to Massachusetts to stay with us for 5 weeks to get out of Idaho for the summer.  I don't think he realized he was going to trade nice, dry summers in Idaho for very humid, summers in Massachusetts.  We were super excited for him to stay so the weekend before Ryan officially started residency on July 1st, we hit the road and headed to southern Maine to see some lighthouses and beaches.

Maine is such a beautiful state!  I think we will be taking many trips up to Maine for some weekend getaways.  That is one thing that I like about the east coast, we drove through 3 states in under 2 hours.  We left Friday afternoon and made it to Ogunquit, ME.  We played on their nice beaches, went crabbing, tried to find oysters, ate saltwater taffy, fudge and a delicious dinner.

This was the first time going to the Atlantic Ocean.  The water was so clear and cold.

There was a nice trolley system at our hotel that would come and pick you up and take you to the beach for 2 dollars.

The next day, we went to York, Maine to go see the Nubble Lighthouse.  This lighthouse actually has a family living in the house.

Slipping on rocks and looking for creatures in the tide pools

Maine is known for their lobster, so we were on the hunt for the best price lobster and I think we found it, $12 for your very own lobster!

There are tons of fun candy stores in the towns.  We had to refill our saltwater taffy for the trip home, especially since there were 62 flavors!

Maine was a fun weekend getaway.  We will be seeing a lot more of it in the near future.
